Engrish!

Was feeling bored. So decided to entertain myself. Typed in Engrish in the search engine. Came across a website. Nearly laughed my head off. These are my favourites.

The rat

My dad just caught a rat. I'm not sure whether it's the same one I saw galloping (it was abviously too fat to be running) across the porch. It looked a little smaller than the one I saw. I watched my dad torture it by pouring boiling water on it (my mum called it an execution). YEOUCH!!!! That's gotta hurt! I feel sorry for it now. If rats ruled the world and humans were at their mercy, I wouldn't want to be poured over with boiling water.
Was thinking about this last night before I fell asleep. "Why do babies cry at birth?"
Found the answers at Yahoo! Answers.
The best answer was:
actually most babies don't cry at birth. The doctors like to stimulate them to cry though because it helps to inflate and epand their lungs with their first tastes of air. Crying is a quick way to suck in alot of air and spread oxygen quickly throughout your body.

However, I liked this answer better:
Mostly because they get turned upside down and get given a smack on the bum, doctors do this to get them to breath and a sign that they are alive. Babies are normally given a smack to help get them to breath with their mouths. Truth is no-one has ever had the chance to ask a baby why, cause they can't talk at birth, but that is the most logical answer.

Botak, oh botak

Botak went beyond his 無聊-ness today. There was this one tutorial question which asked for the advantages and disadvantages of e-catalogues. So he divided the class into sub groups to have discussions. Then after about 10 minutes or so he asked a representative from each group that were doing the advantages part to go to the front of the class. He then asked them to form a circle and asked them to "Lat tali lat tali tam plom". The "losers" had to present their answers. Lei Ye said that he must be going through his second childhood. That's pretty early. Haha. Yeah chi, even June Ann thinks that he thinks he's very funny when we're actually laughing at his lameness, not his jokes.

Looking forward to Thursday, next week. My off day! I finally get a day off from college for the 3-month period of June-August. Yay! After that, no more. =~(

I'm 21.....

Happy Birthday to Meeeeeeeee!!!! Am 21 but I think my mind is still of a 12-year-old. Haha. Woke up at 3.30 pm today. Terrible me. Yeah Rach, I am a fatty. I can't help it.
Went to Dragon-i to e
at. Ok lah, the food. Walked around One Utama then had Baskin Robbins. Yum! But too bad they didn't have that many flavours available.

Yesterday, 24th June 2006 (Saturday).

Went to the orthodontist in the morning. She said I'll have to keep my expander in for 6 months. I'm not too sure whether that meant another 6 more months or 6 months in total. Hmmm......I hope it meant 6 months in total. She said she had to twist two of my teeth which seem "twisted in the wrong way". Yikes! So she put in buttons and more rubber bands.

The rest of the afternoon was raining. Was getting ready for the barbecue at night. Went to Gor-ee's house at 2-something. My sister and I had to peel corn, cut apples & strawberries. I was in charge of peeling and "breaking" the corn. Didn't turn out too well so my Gor-ee told her maid to do it since I was too slow. Haha. Luckily my mum wasn't there or else I'd be told to go out of the kitchen.

The rain only stopped at around 4-something. But it was drizzling on and off the whole night. Lucky thing there wasn't a downpour.

So, the barbecue went well, so did the chocolate fondue. Yay! Thanks for the company last night, my dear family and friends, June Ann, Chou Ti, Thian Liyn, Sook Peng, Pey Tzy & boyfriend, Sa, Tine, Chan Sze, Rachel Teh, Cindy (nice to have met you!), Amanda, May Syn, Kiran, Cathy and Shet Yee. I had a wonderful 21st birthday. Gor-ee & Uncle Chin Kee, thanks for lending your place last night. Mum & dad, thanks so much for the resources (hehehe)! Love y'all!

Family! The best thing anyone could have.

And not forgetting, friends!

Cakey! Yum!

More piccies here.

Went to lepak

Caught up with two secondary school friends, Nisa and Christine, whom I've not seen for two years. Man, it's been THAT long since I last saw them. Well, I can't help it since one is studying in Johor and the other in Canada. Went to Mid Valley to lepak. Both of them are on break and I am the one who has just started college. Sux.
So, when are we going to Genting, Sa? Tine? I need a break from whatever I'm doing now.

Wore these high heels for the first (and will be the last) time. Stupid things are not for walking. Learnt my lesson. Will continue wearing flatties in future. I have no idea how people can actually walk in heels while shopping. They HURT! By 3 p.m., I was practically dragging my feet, not walking.

Finally found some marshmallows after much searching. The trusted wholesaler had lots! But I'm not too sure if those can be barbecued. They didn't look quite barbecue-able. Was wondering whether cotton candies can be barbecued then I could use them instead of marshmallows. Was a thought, don't think it'll work.

Happy Father's Day to all the daddies!!!

Moral

Moral. Why do we have to study it? I never got the objective of learning the moral theories while not much emphasis is placed on the practicing these theories. Isn't the importance of moral for people to "have" moral values and practice them? Currently, in moral, we are learning seriously ridiculous theories which we would have to memorize for exam purposes. We're learning theories like Utilitarianisme (Utilitarianism), Egosim Etika (Ethical Egoism) and Eksistensialisme (Existentialism). Sigh. What's with the long words? Why not use the name Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious? What if I created a theory, named it something stupid, and made you study & memorize it? You wouldn't be too happy, right?
Other silly subjects include geography and history. Whoever thought up these subjects want to make people's lives miserable.

No tax (hopefully)

I have decided to not take Paper 3.2 and take Paper 3.4 instead. I just had this sudden thought during this morning's lecture that taking Paper 3.2 would be extremely stressful on myself (must've been something my lecturer said which made me think such a thought). Seems like a sudden (and maybe rash) decision but I hope that I've made the right decision in dropping the paper. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my programme supervisor, who happens to be the Paper 3.2 lecturer (), will approve the change. Well, he said he'll let me know tomorrow, so fingers crossed! I'm currently really pessimistic about whether I'll be allowed to change my option. It's kinda funny 'cos I when the semester started I really wanted to take tax. My interest for the subject IS there but I doubt I can cope, not with a lousy lecturer and the confusion I currently have. And Chou Ti, thanks for telling Thian Liyn not to kacau me.
Looks like I'll have to wake up at 5.45 a.m. everyday except Wednesdays (the only weekday I can wake up at 6.00 a.m.).

Communication prob

Was walking to the LRT station from college after class. A girl was walking in front of me and she suddenly stopped and asked me something in Mandarin. She said some gibberish so I asked her if she could speak English as all I could catch was the word "Melati". She tried, but in the end she ended up talking in BM to me. Mind you, she's a TARC student. She asked about something with 2-storeys(?). So I asked whether she meant the LRT station and she said, yeah. I showed her that it was just straight ahead and told her that she could follow me since I was heading to the station. She said OK and followed me. Halfway, I turned around to see if she was still following me but she was no where in sight. I think she didn't mean the LRT station. Maybe she meant a house. I wasn't too sure. It's kinda sad that I don't understand Mandarin and she couldn't understand what I said. Miscommunication. A common thing between a duck and a chicken!

Am currently drooling over the new Sony Ericsson phone, the W850i, though I still love the W800i. The white looks better than the black. Coming soon!

Missing

I have lost a pair of jeans. I wonder where it's gotten to. It's not with me, not with my sister, not with my brother, not on my mother's sewing table (well, she might have cut it up to make a bag), not in the laundry basket, nowhere in sight! The case of the missing jeans. Seems to be the same case as the T-shirt my sister lost a long time ago. They seem to have mysteriously disappeared (into thin air?).

Excuse me while I do a little rant about my Advanced Taxation lecturer. The man, like the BIM lecturer, is crap. This shows that TARC has a few crappy lecturers who do not know how to teach. My tax lecturer is both boring and confusing. I believe that his best teaching ability is to confuse the students who are already confused. Haha. Yes, I'm a confused student. Now I don't have a cursing partner for tax as Lei Ye, who told me that we should not change our decisions, has changed her mind and decided to drop tax and take BIM. Unless I try having Thian Liyn as my cursing partner but the guy isn't much fun. *sigh* I guess now my sister would be the one who'll be getting most of my tax lecture complaints since she has been under the same lecturer last year. It's bad news for her 'cos I'm FULL of complaints.

Believe it or not, I've had McDonald's Spicy Chicken McNuggets for dinner for 3 consecutive days. Jelak? Not yet. Well, McDonald's is always the easiest option when one has no idea what to eat.

Didn't think of updating my blog due to laziness but have done so at sister's request.

Jon, Good Luck for your interview! May your ulcer disappear soon (but like I was telling Rach, burst it if burstable, or bite it....I'm serious & not gross....haha).

Chosen!

Finally made my choice after much contemplation (and sleeping on it). Gonna take papers 3.2 Advanced Taxation and 3.3 Performance Management. Ok, so I've decided to "stress" myself. No coursework this time around (learnt about that just yesterday. hey, I learnt something new about my course! *clap*). But that's unlikely to make life any easier. But I'm not gonna back out on my choices. Like Lei Ye said, "Made decision, don't change anymore!" Good advice! 'Cos the more I think about it, the crazier I might get (I'd probably start talking to myself in public). Ok. So that's settled. No regrets, I hope. I'd better not make any statements about this or else the opposite might just come true.

Typical lah

So my cousin just called to ask about tax. Was wondering why she's doing it so late. I forgot that there's a thing called e-Filing (no thanks to lack of exposure to it). And the deadline is tomorrow, 31 May 2006. Tsk tsk. Lucky thing she's a tax resident in Malaysia. A typical Malaysian? I think so.

Crappy lecturer

Woke up at 5.45 a.m. to attend BIM lecture which started at 8 a.m. I believe I wasted my whole 2½ hours for the lecture, 2¼ hours of my sleeping time and another 25 minutes coming back (actually going to MidValley). So in total I lost 5 hours and 10 minutes of my time feeling miserable, bored and sleepy. The man is crap, I tell you! I'm contemplating whether to take this subject with a lecturer like that.

Choices choices choices. Gotta make a choice on which subjects I wanna take this semester by
this Friday. I don't want that feeling of regret when I eventually fail both the papers I take. Have been thinking today. Have been coming up with pros and cons to taking a particular subject. Each time I come up with a reason to take a subject, a disadvantage will somehow creep into my mind. Am lost now. Am dying for advice. Searched the Internet for clues on how one should choose which paper to take for ACCA. Found this pdf file which was for December 2003 but I believe it still is useful for my year. One of the pages gives a rough outline of each optional ACCA paper. Am still pondering, though.Source: http://www.bpp.com/admin/gfx/busedweb/......../acca/acca_complete.pdf

It's starting.........

I have to wake up in about 6 hours time and I am still lying in front of the computer. 'Tis still too early to sleep! My mother asked me what time I'm coming home tomorrow. My reply: "Err....after I finish my class I guess." And I got responses from both my mum & sister: "STUPID (this word was extra long) answer!" Haha. Entertainment, man!

So, what subjects do I intend to take? I was thinking Advanced Taxation (Paper 3.2) and Business Information Management (Paper 3.4) . Then again, Performance Management (Paper 3.3) sounds useful. But I don't think I wanna stress myself out too much. Will attend the lectures to see which I'll dislike the most. Definitely NO Audit for me.
Darn! We're to take Moral. I guess the subject's not that bad but it just has to be in Bahasa Malaysia. Man, my BM has gone down the drain since I left secondary school. Moral....brings back memories of the Moral subject in primary school and secondary school days. I used to score quite high for the subject in primary school. That's 'cos it was easy. Drawing flags and stuff. Not so in secondary school. I was looking at my secondary school report card yesterday. Form 4 year-end exam: Moral - 47 (D7); Form 5 mid-year exam: Moral - 49 (D7). Uh-oh. Orang tak bermoral (Person with no morals). But I managed to "bluff" my way through for SPM. Just wrote as many nilais as possible to score marks. Eventually I got an A2! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that grade on my SPM results slip. Same went for History.

Bored?

For the extremely bored. Cheers!

Bakin' Boys

Well, my sister was reading the newspaper and came across this article on Bakin' Boys. Visited their website and practically drooled while looking at their cookies (well, actually reading about them). Sounds so so soooooooo yummy! And they have this Power Promo for people who go there on their birthdays. I'm definitely gonna try heading there on my birthday!

Cleared room (partially)

Was clearing my room the whole day today. Didn't know it'd take me more than 5 hours to get part of my room cleared. But like my mum said, it'll probably be back to its normal messy state once college starts. While I was clearing, I found some interesting articles (I had a few newspapers & magazines lying around). So before I dispose of the papers thought I'd post some "useful" stuff here, just in case.

From Malaysian Today (May 26-29, 2006)

Nooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!

College starts on Monday and I have a lecture at 8 a.m. at DK ABD which is like on the other end of the world! What in the world is wrong with the people who set the timetable, huh? Well, the timetable says "Only for 1st week" so I'm trying to keep my hopes up that the revised one will be a little better. *fingers crossed*

Decided to watch Over The Hedge instead of The Da Vinci Code though I'd still like to watch the latter.

Body Shop was having a sale and the place was like a mad house! The shop in Mid Valley is not that big so imagine about 50 people squashed inside (okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a little). Stingy me shared with my bro to buy eau de toilette for my sis as a be-LATE-d birthday present.
Like it chi? Don't try all the combinations in one go, k?
The collection of fragrance we bought is called Invent Your Scent fragrances. There are a few different fragrances and when any two are mixed together (actually sprayed after one another), they create a different scent. Oh, found some useful tips (from The Body Shop Website) on what to do with
them, chi.
  • Start the day wearing one fragrance, then spray another one on top before going out in the evening.
  • All nine Invent Your Scent fragrances combine with each other so you can never make a mistake.
  • Combining more than two Invent Your Scent fragrances is not recommended.

I have sesat friends. Friends who thought today was my birthday. Haha. My birthday is 25/6 not 26/5, Lei Ye.

Amazement

I amaze myself sometimes. What in the world am I doing in a course I currently dislike and one which I don't know anything about? I keep being asked how many papers I have to take in ACCA and I can never give a number. All I can ever say is "I dunno". Honestly, I never found out anything about my course. Maybe I did but I never understood the exam system so I'm just "going with the flow". All I know is that I should pass all the subjects in the first seating so that I won't have to pay extra to resit them papers. Well, too bad it was only my second not-on-my-list choice. Eh, Chan Sze, if you LURVE ACCA so much, wanna sit my papers for me? Haha.....if only that was ever possible.
Silly me is still dying to do actuarial science which is way too costly and a goal I'll probably never be able to reach since I suddenly hate studying. Why was I not born with super photographic memory?
I miss Add Maths!

Was told that next semester's timetable can be viewed on the college's website. Tried accessing it just now (at 12 am) there was a problem loading the page. Complained to my sister and she said, "Maybe they're updating the website right now." That was hard to believe as it was 12 MIDNIGHT! Nobody in their right mind would want to update the college website so late in the night unless they couldn't sleep. I doubt any of the staff has insomnia. Then again, maybe some of them do have insomnia since some of the staff are quite moody all day long. I am mean. Haha. Will try accessing it again when I wake up.

Am finally gonna watch a movie in the cinema after probably half a year (?). Am torn between watching The Da Vinci Code and Over The Hedge. The Da Vinci Code seems more worth it since it's an hour longer than Over The Hedge. But Over The Hedge looks like a fun movie. *ponders* I hope I am able to wake up at 9 am. Seems impossible or is it?

Right, I'm off to pursue my dreams in my dreams. Nighty! Wait, need a dose of Sudoku first.

No more sinking sidebars

Yes! Finally the sidebar of my blog is not below the posts anymore when viewed using Internet Explorer. Thanks to Peter's Blogger Tips and Tricks blog. Apparently it was due to the weather sticker that was too long for the sidebar.

Having a temporary memory loss at the mo'. Can't remember what I wanted to blog about.

Friendster changed the homepage layout again and now the daily horoscopes are gone, or am I just blind?
