Food and all

Went to collect my contact lenses last night then went for dinner at "William's" (the place actually doesn't have a name as it's only a stall, the owner's name in William). Not bad, the food, I was told. It's sort of like a mamak stall but has Italian food and also Chinese. It opens from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. It's located near the old Lim Kok Wing University building (I have no idea what the area is called). I ate garlic cheese naan, which I thought after the 4th piece was too jelak-y. My sis ate nasi lemak ayam with killer hot sambal and my mum ate cantonese yee mee, which wasn't too good. But it's the first time I've been there so I can't really judge the food yet.
The owner said I look like a Japanese (he's not the only one, I was once told that too by a tuition friend). C'mon, I look CHINESE!

I left my notebook on for the night as I was burning something for a friend. And when my idiotic brother woke up, he just had to off my power supply. And my battery had been running low. By the time I woke up, the battery had run out and my notebook had shut down. Lucky thing my disc had finished burning. PC, if you ever do that again, 넌 이제 죽었어 (you are dead meat)!

Went to collect my offer letter just now from E & Y. I've gotta go shopping for more working clothes. But there's no sale now!!!
Oh, I finally got my hair cut.

I got two calls!!!!

Went to KL today with my aunt, mum & sis. Went to the Immigration Office at Maju Junction. Man, that place is so convenient. you just have to park your car on the 6th floor and the office is just right there, in the car park. Then we headed off to the Dutch Embassy at Ampwalk to get something done for my cousin, who's in Holland. Had lunch at the Yellow Hat Cafe, a kopitiam style place. After that, my aunt bought a crystal lamp. Then we went to Lot 10 for some "shopping". Didn't really do much shopping at Lot 10. More of window shopping.

I had a call when I was in Isetan, Lot 10 at about 3.45 p.m.. It was from a lady (I'm sorry, I couldn't catch your name) at Ernst & Young. She asked me whether I still wanted to work at E & Y and I said yes. Then she asked me some questions: "Tell me about your education", "What curricular activities did you take in school & college?", "Which line woul
d you rather work in?". I answered her questions and when I said I preferred doing tax than audit, she was like, "OK. Many of your friends also prefer that line." I was like, OK. Then she said she'll pass my application to her colleague. At about 5 p.m. I got a nother call from somebody named Christine, from the HR department at E & Y. She said that I can start my vacation training on the 15th of Feb. Then she asked till when I can work, and when I start my next semester. So I said that I start on the 29th of May and she said that's the end of May (that's weird...tell that to my college!). She asked whether I can work till the 19th of May. Of course I can. So, I'm to pick up my offer letter on Friday. No interview? I guess the 1st phone call was the "interview". How nice!!! Hehe.... Well, I hope I'll have a good vacation training. Wish me luck!

Don't they just look lovely together? Goong!

Waste of time

I wasted two hours of my time yesterday, watching Himalaya Singh. It is one of the STUPIDEST movies I've seen. Not recommended to watch.

A random thought:
My sis currently likes Chinese music.
I'm currently into Korean music.
And my bro is into Japanese music.

Learning

It's 5 a.m. and I'm sitting in front of my notebook, not wanting to sleep yet. Reason: This terrible person woke up at 5 p.m. yesterday.
But, staying up so late, I get to learn so many things.
For example, I managed to get a flash file from a website and convert it to avi. The file had no music and I just added music to it. It turned out well.
In other words, I'm trying to learn how to be not so tech challenged. I'm trying to be more tach savvy. Hopefully I'm getting nearer to that goal.

A drama recommendation. 궁 Goong (Princess Hours)

KL - Cheap city?

I only just discovered this when I saw it in the News Straits Times at my aunt's house.
Kuala Lumpur, one of the cheapest cities? Really? Could this really be true? Such a shame.

O$LO: No. 1; KL: No. 95
KL one of the world's cheapest cities

Despite the flurry of price increases last year, Malaysia remains one of the cheapest places in the world to live in.

In the latest cost-of-living survey by the Economist Intelligence Unit, Kuala Lumpur was ranked 95th among 128 cities in the world, up three places from the year before.

The most expensive city in the world was Oslo in Norway, knocking Tokyo from the perch for the first time in 14 years.

In that Scandinavian city, the price of a compact disc is US$24.07 (RM90). For that price, you can purchase two CDs in Kuala Lumpur.

Perhaps the starkest difference between living in Oslo and living in Kuala Lumpur is in the cost of owning a vehicle.

It costs a Norwegian US$57,230 to buy a family sedan, US$443 to register the vehicle, US$2,619 for insurance and US$1.98 for a litre of unleaded petrol.

In contrast, those living here have to fork out US$41,409 to buy a 2,499cc car, pay US$65.24 to register the vehicle, US$585.11 for insurance and US$0.42 for a litre of unleaded petrol.

The survey, which compares the cost of goods and services in dollar terms across 128 cities, noted that eight of the 10 most expensive cities in the survey are in Europe.

Five of the seven lowest-priced cities surveyed are in Asia, including Manila, while the cheapest city is Teheran.

In many Asian cities, economic growth has pushed up the cost of living, the report said.

Seoul, at No 13, overtook Hong Kong (14th) as the most expensive city in the region after Tokyo and Osaka.

However, despite the appreciation of the yuan since it freed itself from a peg to the US dollar in July, Chinese cities have experienced a relative fall in the rankings as increased investment opens up pricing competition and lowers tariffs on branded goods in larger urban centres.

Shanghai, the most expensive Chinese city on the list, is still only at No 51, up five places from last year.

Closer to home, Singapore remained the most expensive city in the region. But its overall ranking improved from 19 to 24.

Jakarta, Hanoi, Bandar Seri Begawan, Bangkok and Manila are cheaper places to live in than Kuala Lumpur.

And if last year was any indication, it is likely that the cost of living in Kuala Lumpur will continue to climb.

Last year, Malaysians were hit hard in the pocket with petrol prices going up twice. This triggered an across- the-board spike in prices of goods and services.

There is likely to be another petrol price hike soon.

Also, Malaysians can expect to pay more for electricity.

This could set off another round of price increases for everything from a glass of teh tarik to a bag of flour.

Hmm....I just realised that I've got 4 months off from college (not 3 months). Great! Now my brains will be goiing through some serious rotting.

CNY

Well, Chinese New Year has been OK, so far. Been eating loads, just like every other CNY. I feel kinda bored now, though. Maybe it's because I've been sitting in front of my notebook for too long. It's only the 2nd day of CNY and I really haven't anything much to do.

Pics I took on the 1st day of CNY. Here's one with my sis. The rest can be found at My Imagestation (the last few pictures)

Finally!

Well, exams are finally over. Yayness! However, I believe I didn't do well in any of my papers. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll pass them all but also have to be prepared to expect the worst! Failure in all my papers!!!!
Audit, of course, was a super tough paper and my least favourite of all the three papers I had to sit for this semester. I'm so glad it's over and that I can celebrate Chinese New Year in peace...hehe

By the way, HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR!!!!!! Have a great year of the DOG.

I found out recently that "can" and "may" are actually no different. I've been told before that "may" meant asking for permission and "can" did not include the permission part. I guess that person was wrong. Well, I saw this in The Star Newspaper. Here's what two people had to say about it: Click here.

I'm at the stage where I have to decide whether to cut my hair or just let it grow long. Maybe I should just keep it long this time since I've got 3 months off (but will probably have to go for vacation training) to decide before college starts again.

Hey May Kaun, has it already been 12 years? I lost count! That's kinda long. But I have not been able to see you these past 2-3 years. Miss ya. Now that you're going to Australia, it'll be even harder.

Rhea, I've just watched Zorro 2. And yes, the son IS cute! Catherine Zeta-Jones was looking extremely beautiful and Antonio Banderas was killer sexy. Hahaha!!!!

Aja Aja!

I am super doomed. And this time it's for real. I've been studying but nothing seems to be able to stay in my head. This is bad, real BAD!!!!
Anyways, to all TARCians, 아자아자! 화이팅! Aja Aja! Hwaiting! (sorry, I'm still hooked onto Full House). Only a few more days, AFA 1. 4 more days of doom and we're free to celebrate CNY!!!!

I saw a guy on the LRT today who looked like a Furby. Hehe. I'm mean, I am.

Friday, 20 January 2006

Oh no!!!!

Just the other day I found out that my group did real badly for our audit assignment. We probably got the lowest in the whole course and we barely passed. I predict that I'm not gonna do well in that paper (i.e. I'ma gonna fail!) . I find it real hard to accept the audit theories. They just don't make sense to me. And I really have no reason to study it.
A funny thing. My classmate, Yoke Yee, asked me today on how to study audit. Haha! Yoke Yee, you've gotta be kidding me. Oh, and by the way, I'm not smart. I've just been lucky these past few years. But my luck seems to have run out. No more good results for me anymore.

HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY JUNE ANN!!!!!

What a laugh!

Went to my aunt's house yesterday to celebrate my mum's birthday which is actually today. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM!!!!!We had a wonderful time. All the ah-ees (my aunts & mum) and my ahkoo (uncle) were reminiscing about their younger days. Man we were having a good laugh. They were talking about their parents, aunts & uncles. All the funny stories, especially of my grandmother. Would love to meet my grandparents but unfortunately I never got the chance to.

Ah sheesh! I have not been able to study these two days. No thanks to being out the whole of each of the two days. I'm so doomed!

To all asian Rain fans, read this article:Star of Asia, Rain to set up Asian Fan Club

I'm hoping it's true!!! JYPE, let it be true, please!!!!! And include Malaysia (and all the other asian countries as well) too, please!!!!

Something my friend sent to me through e-mail.

Water Bridge in Germany.... What a feat!

Six years, 500 million euros, 918 meters long.......now this is engineering!
This is a channel-bridge over the River Elbe and joins the former East and West Germany, as part of the unification project. It is located in the city of Magdeburg , near Berlin . The photo was taken on the day of inauguration.

Exams exams exams

'Tis the time to start cramming. The exam period is again separated to pre-Chinese New Year and post-Chinese new Year. All my three papers, however, have been crammed into the pre-CNY period. *sigh* How couold they do that especially with the killer Audit & Fianancial Reposting papers just 2 days apart? *ARGH!*

Sunday, 25 December 2005

Great!

My phone is going bonkers. It just restarted itself just now. Hope it doesn't keep doing that.
And my Firefox keeps closing itself after I installed the newest version, version 1.5. *sigh* Nevermind. At least the world is not coming to an end yet.

I believe that my lecturers do not believe in the season of giving. They should give us a BREAK!!!!!

Merry Christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Couldn't resist putting this pic up. So cute (Peru)!

Wondrous Gift

Just came back from my cousin's church. Went there to watch a Christmas musical. Quite nice.
If any Malaysians are around PJ tomorrow, drop by Glad Tidings to watch the play.

Info
Wondrous Gift: A Christmas Musical
Time: 8:00 PM
Date: 23rd & 24th December 2005
Venue: Glad Tidings, No. 6, Jln Bersatu 13/4 PJ

Late day

Woke up at 4 p.m. Har har! Slept for, err...14 hours!!!!!!
Currently listening to Christmas songs just to get into the mood.

This is for MY eyes only!
I really do think that my dad is biased. His precious son means the world to him. Too bad my idiotic brother is his only son and I guess my dad feels that being his only son, my brother deserves "special treatment (?)". When I feel that my brother is at fault, in my dad's eyes, it's I who's at fault. For example, when both of us finish class at the same time, we tell each other to meet at the back gate a t a certain time. I'm ususally always there and I have to wait for my bro who's usually 10-20 minutes late. There was a time when I had to wait 30 minutes and that was during the exam period and waiting at the backgate meant getting bitten by mosquitoes (I'm not stupid for waiting but since we made each other wait I had no choice). And when I got irritated and told my dad, he told me to not get angry and that why couldn't I just wait for a while? ****! Why do I always have to wait for that idiot? It's not like my time should be wasted waiting for him. And he didn't even tell my brother off for being late! I hate it.
P.S. If you are reading this, you really shouldn't! Please erase it from your memory! Thanks! It's just my rant and should not be taken seriously!

Here's a very cute video made by a fan of IJUKSA, a korean drama. Just for the Christmas season. The doll in the video is called Peru (pronounced as pear-roo).

Bad me

Eck! Today's test was just bad! I studied and whatever I studied came out but my lack of brainpower made me not remember.
I was bad today. I skipped Audit tutorial.
I know eleven other people who skipped too. So out of 32 people, 20 people went for class (or could've been less). I felt guilty not attending class. But I'd also feel guilty if I had attended it. My tutor loves calling me to answer question because my name is first on the attendance list (so, naturally she can remember my name). I, being lazy, do not do my tutorials. So, if I'd gone, I'd feel guilty too! So, best not go. Hehehe.

I'm supposed to go out with my friends tomorrow but I'm not. Gotta sleep. And I'm not waking up till 1 or 2. Har har!

Wednesday, 21 December 2005

Test tomorrow

Ah great! Having a test tomorrow and I am not prepared. Gonna fail, as usual!!!!! Better tear my face away from the screen and hit the books....errr....I mean notes.

HAPPY BURFDAY Rach & Pey Tzy!!!!!!

Presentation

Well, my presentation yesterday went well. At least better than I expected it to be. I don't know about my marks but I didn't screw up for the first time!
My group mate, the only guy in my group, was told by my lecturer to speak louder. Haha! Of the four of us, he's the only guy and we girls spoke louder than him.
Two other groups also did their presentation.
My friend, Jia Ying, was extremely nervous. She was holding a piece of paper in her hand and it was shaking. LOL (not being mean or anything).
Then another group had this guy, which we nicknamed triple C ('cos his initials are C.C.C.). He's super cute, like a big teddy bear! Haha.

I was looking up at the ceiling when the other groups were presenting and I saw something that reminded me of the Dark Mark (Harry Potter). Haha...had a good laugh with my friend.

Dad, listen up!!

My friend sent me this e-mail. Shocking ending!

A father passing by his son's bedroom was astonished to see the bed was nicely made and everything was picked up.

Then he saw an envelope propped up prominently on the center of the bed.
It was addressed, "Dad".

With the worst premonition, he opened the envelope and read the letter with trembling hands:

Dear Dad,

It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing this. I had to elope with my new girlfriend because I
wanted to avoid a scene with mom and you.

I've been finding real passion with Barbara and she is so nice even with all her piercing, tattoos, and her tight motorcycle clothes.

But it's not only the passion dad, she's pregnant and Barbara said that we will be very happy.

Even though you don't care for her as she is much older than i, she already owns a trailer in the woods and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter.

She wants to have many more children With me and that's now one of my dreams too.

Barbara taught me that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone and we'll be growing it for ourselves and trading it with her friends for all the cocaine and ecstasy we want.

In the meantime, we'll pray that science will find a cure for aids so Barbara can get better; she sure
deserves it!!

Don't worry dad, I'm 15 years old now and I know how to take care of myself.

Someday I'm sure we'll be back to visit so you can get to know your grandchildren.

Your son,
John

P.s. Dad, none of this is true. I'm over at the neighbour's house. I just wanted to remind you that there are worse things in life than my report card that's in my desk centre drawer. I love you!

Call when it's safe for me to come home

Of Meh Lays and what nots

I was watching a programme on Discovery Travel & Living channel yesterday. It was called Bizzare Foods: Asia. I didn't find the host, Chef Andrew, good though. One thing is that he didn't really know how to taste the food and also failed to get names of certain things wrong. I'll only comment on the part where he went to Penang, Malaysia.
A few things he said which was, well....you'll get the picture once you read them:
He pronounced Malay as Meh Lay.....what's up with that?
Ikan bilis became Eye Can Bilis....sheesh, get your pronunciation right, dude.
He said that belacan is nasty looking.....Nooooooo, it isn't!
Peking duck=Pay King Duck?!
Coagulated pigs blood is the most unpleasent thing. Yeah right, don't eat lah.

Well, my English lecturer didn't go ballistic today. *phew*

The week

Boy...what a week! A hectic one it was. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this week would be better than the last. I'm dreading tomorrow's English class. Who knows how ballistic my English lecturer is gonna be tomorrow. Should I not go? Haha....unlike me to skip class unless I'm sick. Oh well.

Had a haircut on Friday. My mum went with me and my hair style was practically to make my mum happy. My mum kept telling the guy cutting my hair that I (ME?! I don't wanna look like a guy!) wanted it shorter when it was actually her who couldn't stand my hair being long. The guy looked like he was thinking, "Wah, this girl cannot think for herself one!"

I've been sneezing non-stop today. Is there someone talking bad behind my back?! Haha...I'm not supuerstitious.

Wednesday, 23 November 2005

!@#$%$#@!^&^&*^

I HAVE GOT A CRAZY ENGLISH LECTURER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She just nhad to ruin my (and the whole class's) day. I think being a PhD holder has taken a toll on her sanity. I LOATHE her! Another 7 more weeks with her. Don't know how I'll be able to tahan it.

I'm darn sleepy. Slept at 5 a.m. and woke up at 6.30 a.m. the same day, no thanks to my group mate who did not have the sense to follow instructions. I've got a presentation tomorrow. And I need SLEEP!!!!!

Good night!

Whoa. An unsuspected thunder! Scary~~~~
Rained real heavy just now. Sounds like it's gonna rain again.

And I'm supposed to be doing my assignments. What am I doing online then??? I feel so lazy. That's how one feels when one wakes up at 12p.m. Hahaha.

Eh???

My mum just told me that my sister's friend saw me yesterday in college and that she smiled at me but I did not smile back (she said I was looking in her direction). To be honest, I DIDN'T see her. I guess my brain must've been half asleep or the scope of my vision has narrowed to, maybe, 90°. She should've came in front of me and waved into my face. That way, I would have noticed that she was there. So people, you know what to do if for some reason I'm looking in your direction but don't seem to know you're there. Just come in front of me and wave INTO my face.

Congrats Liesl, for getting straight As in your UPSR exam!

Jia Ying, I know you don't read my blog, but I just wanna say, I'm sorry to hear that your grandmother passed away.

Just wanna share a GIF I made not too long ago (my soompi avatar). Hey Rach, cute or not? I saw the screensaver, didn't download it, though.

Canggih.....

Hah! My college seems to be on the way to canggihness. New mouses (mice) in the CITC and optical ones! First they upgraded the computers in the CITC to Windows 2000 and then put wireless access around the college, which unfortunately, doens't have good connection, especially in the library. Now this. I wonder when they're gonna change the computers in the library which are super old. Soon I hope. Or we'll keep getting corrupted files whenever we use it to save stuff.

Another blood doantion drive in college, another 450ml of blood gone. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, I LOVE donating blood.

Yet again!

Great! My Internet connection just died on me, yet again. I had to switch on the other computer to check the ruddy router settings. I found out it was the router's filters that were blocking my notebook from accessing the Internet. It just has to ONLY block mine. Why? I don't know. I am seeking to find out why. I had to disable the filters so that I could access the Internet once again. I hope this will not happen again but I doubt that it won't happen again. *sigh*

Some photos

Just wanna share some photos

A grapefruit (my second one in all my life, so far). Given by my mum's friend. Must've been expensive.

A picture of my mum, who is computer illiterate.

Untitled.....

Feeling really tired. I finally got my 1st eight-hours sleep for the week. *Yawn*.
Now my head is buzzing with assignments, assignments and more assignments. A feel of college life for you people who think it's a breeze being in college. Bleh! It ain't, not when your other group members depend on you too much especially for English.

A funny thing I heard from my friend the other day. He said he his group members celebrate after finishing an assignment. Wow, these people sure have lots of money to spend. Imagine how many celebrations they hae each semester? I've never heard of such a thing.

Just the other day my Internet connection died on me, only on me but not by siblings. Why of all computers it had to be mine? I quote (boka, soompi) an explanation of what (might have) happened:
"computers are crazy things, sometimes they like to change their own settings... your computer probably has a particular address that it likes to use when in a network, whereas the other computers on the network might not care what address they use and can use any address dynamically assigned to them by the router... i.e. when you turned your comp off or rebooted, the router somehow thought your computer had moved out of the address and let one of the other computers in so when your computer came back, it couldn't get in..."
Thanks to my brother for reserving an IP address for my computer, now I can use the Internet again.

Jogging.....more like strolling

I went to the park today after goodness knows how long I've not been to one. I went to Taman Aman, a park located just right next to the Taman Paramount LRT station. I went there to exercise. Yeah right, seemed more like I was strolling in the park. I only jogged almost one whole round of the park. What an accomplishment!
The park was nice. There were many health conscious people there, especially old uncles. Most people go there to walk (brisk walking), only a few were jogging.
I should go jogging more often

English

I'll start off with my English tutorial. Had a class yesterday. I just had to sit (had no choice) in between two people who would not stop asking me questions throughout the whole class. We were doing grammar and our lecturer was asking us for answers. For each answer given, these two people kept bombarding with questions on why the answer is what it is. Boy, was it frustrating. Imagine trying to listen to the lecturer and having a person on each side throwing questions into your ear.

Had English language lab. I found it quite fun.

The first aid unit came into the lecture hall today to promote their blood doantion drive. The guy who was explaining was really funny. Funny in the sense of not being able to pronounce words correctly. Imagine, above became aboove; involve became invoolve. The two mascots were extremely hilarious this time around.

Damned English

I can't stand my English lecturer. Why can't she accept our ideas? Now my group has to find another topic for our English assignment after wasting our 3 weeks. Sheesh. Why can't she accept the problems we tought up of? And now we are given less than 2 days to find information, write down headings & come up with interview questions. This is really frustrating. Reminds me of the frustration I was facing when I was doing my MIS assignment back in Dilpoma. Gotta go find information now instead of hanging around here.

Career Fair week & User interface

Had a long week. Had two days of classes up to 7 p.m. and one till 6 p.m. The ones up to 7 p.m. was because of the career fair. But the career fair was "educational". Not all the talks had much substance. Some were just to promote their company/organisation. After the talks, I am certain I don't want to work in any of the Big Fours nor do I want to do auditing.
I went for a public speaking talk yesterday to see if I could learn anything to brush up on my public speaking skills (as I am a poor public speaker). A thing I learnt is about making eye contact. One of the speakers was talking about it. She gave three tricks. She said only to use them if we were going to have a heart attack and die.
The first trick is to focus on the people at the four corners of the room. Make eye contact with them at random order, not in a continuous sequence.
The second is to look at people not in their eyes but in between their eyes.
The last is for people who are short sighted. Don't wear your spectacles/contact lenses on that day unless you really are almost blind without your glasses.

I have just changed my computer's interface. I love it!

Belated prezzie

Got a belated birthday present from my brother and sister yesterday. Finally, I've got the 6th Harry Potter book. RM69.90. Thanks you guys. Personally, I wouldn't have bought it yet. I would've waited till the price went down to RM49.90. Now I don't have to buy it. Yeah!

Shattered!

What a way to start the day. The tinted screen in front of the monitor just had to drop and the glass just had to break. Why me? According to my brother it already looked broken the last time he dropped it. It seems to have something against me then. This got my mum into a bad mood. Great! Now I have the whole day, or more likely the rest of my life, to feel GUILTY!

Scratched

I have been scratched, though it looks as if the scar is a trail of puncture marks. This was due to my carelessness. I forgot I was carrying papers which have a string with metal pieces holding them together. The result is this:

Went to college today for a group discussion. Thought it was a complete waste of time. Hardly got anything done. My tutor is really bonkers. I think being a PhD holder has made her like that. Haha. She only gave us one day to find information on our assignment. Another thing is that we want to go for a talk this Wednesday but she won't let us. She told my class rep,"You go and change the time for the talk. I won't let you skip my class." What's up with her? Can't she replace the class? Man, she's being really unreasonable. Gotta go check out the e-learning thingy before she starts banging us for not going.

Daze

Whoa, I nearly missed a class today. It's a lucky thing my class rep SMSed us before it was too late. I had no idea that English tutorials start this week. Didn't tutorials usually start on the 2nd week? *Sigh*
I got the SMS at around 12.30p.m. telling me that English tutorial was at 2.30 p.m. Luckily I was already awake. Had a shock when I got the SMS. I'm still recovering from it. I can hardly remember what happened during class, apart from the fact that my lecturer is really cerewet.

Was the dream a sign that something like this would happen? Well, it wasn't exactly the same but it's somewhat similar. Hmmmm.......

A waste of time

I went to college with my brother today to copy our timetables. Mine wasn't out yet. My brother's was. That's a miracle; the School of Arts & Science (SAS) was, for the first time, faster than the School of Business Studies (SBS). All I got for going to college were bites from vampire insects a.k.a. mosquitoes and sweaty/stinky body & t-shirt. But I also got a good laugh at something while walking back to the LRT station. Though my brother said that I was just being lame. I saw this sign on a stall in a so-called restaurant. One which used to have a sign saying Mee Carry (which, I guess, was supposed to be Mi Kari/Curry Mee). This time it was Murtabak Pak Din. Usually people write Murtabak Ayam or Murtabak Kambing, etc. which meant there's chicken or mutton in the murtabak. So i figured that Murtabak Pak Din would contain Pak Din, whoever he was. Man, that was funny. I don't think they meant that, though, that's why I thought it was damn funny. If they did, they were promoting cannibalism; but where would they get so many Pak Dins?

I had a dream. I guess it was bad for me 'cos it seemed so REAL. Now that I think about it, I find it ridiculous. I dreamt that I forgot I was having an exam at 8 a.m. and I woke up axactly at 8 a.m.! I was in a real panicky situation. I never knew what happened after that 'cos I woke up at that point.

Still awake

I am still awake at this hour because I can't sleep. Why? Because I drank coffee. Not on purpose, though. I was hungry and decided to drink Milo. When I make Milo, I usually mix it with coffee. It's a really nice drink when you want to have a hot drink. All you have to do is mix 1 packet of coffee (= 2 teaspoons) with 4-5 teaspoons of Milo (I like to add as much as possible), then add water (hot, obviously), and milk, if you like. It's really nice. The coffee gives a nice aroma while the Milo gives the nice taste. Yum, I love Milo. Just eating the powder alone is yummy.

Top 15 skylines in the world

My friend sent me this through e-mail. Thanks Pey Tzy. Thought I'd post it up 'cos some of the pics are really nice. I particularly like the picture of Shenzhen, China. Very pretty. Mind you, I don't usually like pictures of buildings. I prefer those on nature.

Polygamy

I was just watching an old episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show. Oprah was talking about polygamy. She had some women from certain places from the US (I can't remember which ones). It seems that in those places, teenage girls have to go through arranged marriage and what's worse is that the men they marry are their relatives (incest) and, in most cases, already married with a few wives. There was this girl, who was fortunately saved, who had a sister who married her father. That's extremely SAD. I always thought polygamy is rubbish. I though that Muslim men being able to marry up to four wives was bad enough, heck, even having two wives was nonsense. The people in those places had up to 30 over wives. Polygamy should be made illegal throughout the world. Polygamists are idiots, I say.

Karaoke

Had a good time today. Went karaOK-ing. My first time to a karaoke lounge (is that what it's known as?). I sounded like a person who couldn't sing for nuts. June Ann sounded the best.

I broke my pocket mirror. It just had to fall out of my bag. *Sigh* Would that mean I'll have 7 years' bad luck? But then again, I've broken my table mirror before and my luck did not become any worse than it was before. I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed.

Face transplant????!!!

I'd like to add a comment on a newspaper article I just read: "Cleveland Doc Wants To Try Face Transplant" (The Star, 22 Sept 2005, p. 40). It'll be really scary to see a person walking around with a dead person's face, wouldn't it? I mean, I'd really freak out if one day I saw a person's picture in the obituary page and a few weeks later, see that person walking in the streets.

Anybody up for staying in prison for a night. Only RM 50. Hahaha. I'm not interested, though. It's in Johor, if I'm not mistaken.

Killer papers

Just finished exam today. Had two really killer papers (not that the papers got up and started attempting to kill me, though I wish they did) this week. The worst was FMC. I seemed to have (maybe) chosen the wrong question to do. Was the other question easier? Sigh. I've gotta stop thinking about it. I don't wanna fail!!!!!!! I'm really DOOMED. Why did Ms Leong have to set such hard questions if she wants us to pass????? I feel down (in the dumps).

Eccentric woman, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera

Had a nice time last night trying to figure out brain teasers. One about a "picky (not exactly Muslim)" eccentric woman and another on Can I get a ticket? I got the eccentric woman one, didn't figure out the ticket one; had to be told the answer 'cos I was just too slow. I tested my brother on the eccentric woman. He didn't seem to get it. Seemed irritated after a while. Hahaha. Wanna tell him the other one.

My cousins have the lamest jokes. Had a fun night.

Was watching a movie (I think it was sci-fi). It was ridiculous, in my opinion. Is it possible to have explosions in space and can fire burn without oxygen?

Ter-accidentally ripped the tip off my highlighter.

Smelly guy

I nearly stopped breathing while in the LRT today. Reason: A guy sitting next to me really stank!. I really wanted to vomit. It smelt like he soaked his clothes in puke and rinsed it off with water and didn't wait for it to dry before he wore it. If you could imagine it, you'd wanna puke too! I had to tahan for 40 minutes. Boy, was that torture. I now have my Vicks VapoRub next to me so that whenever that smell comes back to haunt me (I can still smell it ARGH~~~~), I have something to ward it off from my mind. Ahh.....never knew Vicks smells so good.

Either I'm really stressed or I'm losing my hearing. My mum was talking about my brother not studying when he comes back home and that all he does is play computer games. She was saying that she wants to ban him. Then she said something that sounded really funny. Here's what I heard: "I'm going to SQUASH him." I was like, "What? You're gonna squash him?" What she actually said is I'm going to WATCH him. Man, I'm losing it.

Tortoise

I was walking from the library to the college gate yesterday evening. I happened to notice my shadow. I took a look at it and thought, "I look like a tortoise walking upright!" Serious. I guess the size of my head was small compared to my bag which looked like a tortoise's shell.

I am still doomed.

Sudoku

My bro told me that Miniclip had Sudoku. Went to check it out. Tried playing it. It was OK lah. But I prefer doing it on paper. Much nicer.

Fishing & Men

Fishing - A jerk on one and of a line waiting for a jerk on the other end.

If we can put a man on the moon, how come we can't put them all there?

Really interesting....Saw them while out shopping.

Hope for the best, expect the worst

I believe I'm getting the pre-exam jitters. Exam is like in 2 weeks time. I'm so DOOMED! I'm now hoping for the best & expecting the worst.

Got back my tax coursework marks yesterday. 66. At first it was 60. It's a lucky thing I took down the marks for each part. I was adding them up and discovered that my lecturer made an error in the calculation. *PHEW*

Tongue twisters

My mum just asked me to type & print these out so she could stick it up in the loo. (From StarTwo, 25 August 2005)

If two witches were watching two watches, which witch would watch which watch?

If one doctor doctors another doctor does the doctor who doctors the doctor doctor the doctor the way the doctor he is doctoring doctors? Or does the doctor doctor the way the doctor who doctors doctors?

When a doctor falls ill another doctor doctors the doctor. Does the doctor doctoring the doctor doctor the doctor in his own way or does the doctor doctoring the doctor doctor the doctor in the doctor’s way?

These are OK lah. However, my all time favourite tongue twister is the one about the woodchuck because I can recite it by heart.

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Success in life

Just had FMC tutorial. My lecturer is a person with words of wisdom. According to her, " Today is not about intelligence, it's about creativity. The creative people rule the world, not the intelligent."
Uh oh! I'm not creative person, neither am I intelligent. But I don't want to rule the world. So it wouldn't matter, would it?

Malang day & Not too bad a day

Had a really bad day yesterday.

1) Eyes were stinging the whole day. Must have been too tired.
2) Dropped my pencil in the lecture hall and lost the spring. That's two pencils this sem.
3) Didn't get my certificate for attending the ACCA student conference.
4) Had an aching neck. Possibly due to looking down for too long.
5) I have an idiot for a sibling - had to sleep at 12 a.m.

Today, on the other hand, was not too bad. I had a 'laughable' morning. I was probably dreaming of something funny. I suddenly just laughed out loud (I don't remember what I was thinking about). And that woke me up. I wasn't able to sleep anymore after that. So I just lay in bed till 6 a.m. when my dad came to wake me up.
Got my FMC coursework marks: 70/100. Not bad, if I should say so myself considering the high expectations of my lecturer.

I need to go shopping before the sale is over & before it gets too near to exams. Will probably go this Saturday when my bro goes to Mid Valley for a WCG event. I need to get some necessities:

  • Earphones (all my earphones seem to get rosak-ed on one side)
  • Shoes (apparently the soles are cracking)
  • Rechargeable batteries (wouldn't have to buy new ones if I didn't accidentally drop one in a toilet bowl last time)
  • Pencil (a big, fat one)
After today's FMC lecture, I'm certain that I am DOOMED!

Losing hearing

I believe I'm losing my hearing. My eardrums seem to have become kurang kenyal - a sign of old age. I must be using my earphones too much. However, I'm not gonna give up listening to music as it's the only source of entertainment I have while in the LRT. Can you imagine having to sit/stand in the LRT for 40+ minutes with nothing to do except stare at the person opposite you/out the window? It's pretty boring.

Saw a graffiti on the wall of the lecture hall today. It read: IN MEMORY OF THE THREE BASTARDS. Wonder who they are. Just curious.

Gotta start studying. Am gonna be dead meat if I don't start now. Then again, last minute work has always worked for me. But I'm starting to feel stressed.

Found out

Went to Mid Valley Megamall today. Found out the price for the W800i. RM 1999. Less than I expected it to be. Was so tempted to buy it.....NO $$$$$$!

Sony Ericsson W800i

It's finally out!!!! I'm talking about the Sony Ericsson W800i handphone. I wanna go check the price which obviously will be above RM 2,000. It makes people wonder sometimes why a person would spend so much on a handphone. But it's not JUST a handphone. Gotta consider the features. A 2.0 megapixel camera, MP3 player, video recording......SIGH~~~~~. Can't afford it now. Will wait till I can.

What a week!

First it was finishing up tax coursework.

And on Saturday my grandmother passed away. The Buddhist ceremony was a real bore. I've always liked the Chinese-Buddhist culture. Now I've found a flaw in it - FUNERALS. At my granmother's funeral, we, mourners, had to kneel/sit down while holding a joss stick for 20+ minutes almost every half hour while the nuns chanted. I didn't know what we were gonna do at the 1st session so I knelt, I learnt my lesson after that. It was painful kneeling for 20 minutes. I didn't attend the funeral today 'cos I had to go to college. Do I feel guilty? Maybe. I wasn't close to my grandmother anyway.

I've been thinking, when I die, if anybody is kind enough to hold a funeral service for me, I'd like for the music on my iTunes to be played. No chanting, please. Thank You!

Blank; not too bad

Not so hazy today. Probably because it drizzled last night/this morning. Not many people came for class though. Maybe because the conditions were so bad yesterday, so they decided not to come. Well, like Ross from Mix FM said yesterday, "It's like a big barbeque (minus the heat) out there. Everyone is invited, whether you like it or not."

My mind is blank now. Ta.

Face Analysis

FACEANALYZER
I got this website from Christine's blog.
It supposedly analyses your personality based on you face.

I tried it out. I had fun using different pictures of myself. I got different results each time. Thanks Christine, for sharing this website. Which is most accurate? I don't know. Here they are :

This picture was taken when I was in primary school (probably 9 or 10 years old)

This was taken last year, I think. Results - Extremely INACCURATE!

Taken this year, a few weeks ago.

Most recent pic.

Go ahead. Try it out. You'll have to register though.

Haze

I'd like to quote my mum, "The haze is terrible!" Yes, indeed it is. It stinks of smoke, not only outdoors but even indoors. Looks like it has decided to stay put in Malaysia for the time being. I do wish it'll clear up soon 'cos it's not a nice feeling walking in the haze.

My ding dong sister has deleted my picture from the camera without asking me first.

I can finally download large files without having to leave the computer on for too long. Thanks to FlashGet, an amazing discovery by my brother. Only thing is I don't think it can download from torrents.

Lesson learnt

I learnt a lesson from the aunties (includes my mum) in my family last night - this is in general: If you can help it, try not to work for an Indian boss, especially those with psychological problems i.e. psychos This is particularly true in small businesses.

I went to the PIKOM PC Fair yesterday (II). This time it was held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). Compared to the previous venue, the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), it seemed a little bit crammed. It was jam-packed with people. Could hardly move. Only bought ink crtridges and CD-Rs.

My brother seems to have taken on a really annoying trait from my mum - telling the whole universe about everything, including things he should not tell. I'm not telling you what it is because if I did I would not be worthy of typing this. Hah! Now I've got to be careful of what I tell him.

Ah....just finished typing my tax coursework. FINALLY!

Sister just came back. DARN!

Why does my mother never listen to reason? It's extremely frustrating. She can never understand that she is sometimes wrong about things.

WebSMS

I just found out that the Maxis website has this service. It allows people like me - people who are too cheap to send an SMS by the handphone - to send SMSs without having to pay for them. It's a DREAM come true. Hahahaha. But the number of characters is limited to 130 characters. The person whom you sent the SMS to can reply back 'cos it sort of like chatting but he/she will be charged 15 sen per SMS, if sent by phone. Anybody can register for this service, you needn't have to be a Maxis customer but the SMSs can only be sent to Maxis numbers i.e. 012 & 017.

*SCREAM*

Oh no! It's like almost the end of the semester (4 more weeks to go) and I have not even read a single thing for any of my subjects. I'm in deep shit!
FMC is a killer subject (I'm surprised I have not dropped dead yet) and the Taxation text book is just too thick. What am I to do?????

I've been watching Full House, a Korean drama. It's hilarious .

My sister has gone to Fraser's Hill for an ACCA camp. So that means I get the room to myself for almost 3 whole days. Good riddance!

Gotta go collect my contact lenses and spectacle lenses now. Lazy lah.

Me - Blur?

During yesterday's tax tutorial my lecturer/tutor asked my class rep who, in my class, graduated with distinction (diploma level). He was really angry at us 'cos, as usual, we couldn't answer his questions and so he wanted to know the so-called "smart" students. My class rep went ahead and named those people on by one. Every name my class rep said, my tutor had some comment. There were some who didn't look like they could have gotten a distinction at all - well, that's what my tutor thought lah. I guess I was one of them. He said to me, "You? Why you come to class look so blur blur?" Yes, I admit I'm a really blur person. I can't help it. I was born like that. I got a distinction by pure luck. I am NOT a smart person nor am I hardworking. Compared to my classmates, I'm one of the laziest.

Tax research

I am currently doing research for my tax coursework. It's currently not going too well. Can't find anything on Malaysian tax. Why does the Internet lack info on Malaysian stuff? Luckily it's a group-coursework.

I came across a few interesting quotes on tax and politics while doing my research.

"The hardest thing to understand in the world is the income tax."
(Albert Einstein, Swiss-German-USA physicist, 1879-1955)

"Tax reform means, ‘Don’t tax you, don’t tax me. Tax that fellow behind the tree."
(Russel Long Senator of the United States of America circa 1970’s )

"Politicians are the same all over; they promise to build a bridge even where there is no river."
(Nikita S Krushchev Soviet Politician and Premier of the USSR, 1894-1971)

"The politicians don’t just want your money. They want your soul. They want you to be worn down by taxes until you are dependent and helpless. When you subsidise poverty and failure , you get more of both."
( James Dale Davidson Author )

All of them were taken from The Apparition Of Tax Reform.

Rich kids?

These past few days I noticed that many secondary school students have handphones on them. How do I know they're in secondary school? Why by their uniforms of course. Do their schools allow them to bring the handphones to school? If yes, they're really lucky. I remember during the good ol' days when nobody was allowed to bring most electronic gadgets to school. We couldn't even bring a walkman to school, what more a handphone. But luckily we were allowed to bring a calculator. Without the calculator in Forms 4 & 5, I'd have failed Maths.

Old

I believe I'm getting really old. I came back early from college today because I was feeling tired. And as we all know, tiredness is a sign of old age. So I'm old. I hardly did anything today. Only went for a tutorial class and a sort of lecture by an ACCA representative. That's it. How could I be so tired?

I was watching Couples Fear Factor yesterday. It was the finale. I was rooting for Leah & Roberto to win. But Dean & Ashley aka Barbie & Ken had to win it. I wouldn't mind even if Craig & Maria won. But Dean & Ashley???? *SIGH* They've won so many other stuff already. 4 jeeps!

It's raining (not men, though)

It's been raining since noon again. Am currently freezing. Have been eating too much. Feel like eating rojak now.

I wanna read the 6th Harry Potter book! Haven't got it yet 'cos RM99.90 is just too expensive. Anybody wanna buy it for me? I guess not.

Argh! The top layer of my CD-RW just came out. Can't use it anymore. There goes a CD-RW.

I need to go bathe now. I've not bathed since I woke up at 12.30 p.m. today. Do I stink or what? I think I do. Ciaoz!

Friday, 15 July 2005

I'm broke

It's been raining since noon. Nice and cold. Perfect for sleeping. Too bad I was in the library doing "homework", therefore didn't sleep. But it was freezing cold in there.

I currently have a huge hole in my pocket. I splashed RM515 on my spectacles and contact lenses. I'm broke! Power went up by 25.

Have finally finished my part of FMC coursework. Currently waiting for the tax one. It'll probably be last minute work since we're entering the eigth week already.

Just Married is a hilarious movie.

Am very tired. Wanna sleep but can't help thinking of tutorials I need to finish. *YAWN*

Badminton, F1 & College

Lee Chong Wei won!!!!! He managed to defend his Malaysian Open title. Didn't watch it, though. Heard my sister screaming in front of the TV.

Am happy 'cos Montoya FINALLY won a race for this season. Didn't watch that also. But it doesn't matter 'cos he WON!

The college decided to cut its power supply AGAIN(!) today. Do they not pay the electricity bill??? Sheesh. It was bloody hot in the library (had a discussion for coursework). The only good thing was that tax lecture was cancelled (but would be replaced next week....ARGH!). I wanted to stay till six 'cos I had not done my tax tutorial yet. *SIGH*.

I was watching Kazaam on Saturday (I think). I thought it was a really stupid show which did not seem to make any sense to me. I didn't even know what was going on and everything seemed to happen too fast. If you ever come across this show, DO NOT WATCH IT as it'll be a complete waste of your time!

Rob Thomas

Rob Thomas's debut album, Something To Be, is EXCELLENT!

Crap

I stepped on crap today, and what's worse: I was leaving for college! I had just finished wearing my shoes when I saw something on the porch. It looked like a dried chili padi which had gone bad (it was black, of course). So I used my sole to kick it. Turned out to be crap! Damn! Luckily I managed to wash it off without wetting the cloth part of my shoe. Whew!

I'm starting to get nervous , as i always do when there are assignments to be done. Scared about not passing it up on time, scared of dping it wrongly therefore not passing the coursework and meaning that I'll not be able to take the end-of-semester exam. So far there's only one but I'll be getting the Tac coursework next week. Argh! Stress!
